COVID 19 AND BETTER DEATH

Summary

Lately there is a lot of talk that after the Covid 19 pandemic; our world will no longer be the same as we used to. However no one talks about what will change. In my opinion, what will definitely change is our attitude towards the death.

It is already clear that the pandemic will cause a radical reassessment of all aspects of death. This refers to the process of death, mourning, funeral and so on.

There is a lot of money in the wellness industry today, according to data of 2017 more than $ 4.2 trillion. It is more than in the pharmaceutical business. That's why we need to get rid of fears of death in order to get this money ... “Because, to some extent, people reassure themselves that with the proper nutrition and physical exercises, they will always be able to stay young or ... always alive”. (Global Wellness Summit. 2019 Global Wellness  Trends Report. P. 93)

Against this background, the so-called "positive attitude towards death" movement was still growing before the Covid 19 pandemic, which means reassessing almost every aspect of the death process and death - starting with the best means of feeling it, ending with inventing new rituals of mourning and burial, in order for people to actively explore death and the culturally different spiritual traditions of death - like any mentally “healthy part of life." There is no doubt that the pandemic of Covid 19 will further strengthen this trend.

Georgia is rich with authentic funeral traditions, about which we need to provide information on all the platforms, blogs, podcasts and YouTube channels that host conversations about death. Let them know about our customs and traditions, which will help both foreign and Georgian people to make death better, because otherwise we will not be able to live a healthy lifestyle.
